Hidden Cameras at Expedia

Lawsuit and Investigation

Did you work at or visit the Expedia campus in Seattle in December 2023 or January 2024?

Did you know that Securitas Security Services first received complaints of hidden cameras at Expedia’s single-use non-gender bathrooms on December 4, 2023, but failed to remove or meaningfully respond to the security threat until mid-January 2024?

Are you concerned that you may have been illegally filmed and victimized?

If so, contact our legal team.

We are here to help you. And we need your help to hold Securitas accountable for enabling and allowing these crimes under its watch.

Your confidentiality will be protected.

About the Case

Pfau Cochran Vertetis Amala (PCVA) has filed a lawsuit on behalf of multiple victims against Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. for its failure to prevent the installation and operation of hidden cameras throughout Expedia’s campus. These cameras invaded the privacy of hundreds of workers and visitors, capturing sensitive and intimate footage.

Due to the sensitive nature of the lawsuit, the plaintiffs’ identities are being kept anonymous to ensure their privacy is protected.

Despite receiving complaints of hidden cameras in two bathrooms on the second floor of the campus along B Street as early as December 4, 2023, Securitas failed to adequately investigate or respond to the security threat. This allowed these cameras—and numerous others—to secretly film bathrooms and workstations throughout Expedia’s 40-acre campus for over a month before additional discoveries prompted law enforcement intervention.

According to law enforcement’s investigation, hidden cameras were found in at least seven single-use, non-gendered bathrooms and multiple workstations throughout Expedia’s 40-acre campus. The alleged perpetrator is former Expedia employee Marcelo Vargas-Fernandez, who is now facing charges of voyeurism. The criminal case has positively identified at least 60 victims, with likely hundreds of others yet to be identified.

Victims were secretly filmed with their genitalia exposed, removing their clothing, using bathroom facilities, and in other private moments. Upwards of 20 terabytes of illicit video footage have been uncovered, documenting severe violations of privacy.

Through this legal action, we will be scrutinizing every aspect of Securitas’ mishandling and decision-making that enabled and allowed these crimes to occur on its watch.

Our clients will be using all the power and tools of the civil justice system to understand the full scope of the security breach, hold Securitas accountable to the many victims it harmed, obtain just compensation for all victims, and secure the destruction of the illicit video footage.
